Northwest Lighthouses

Welcome To Pacific NW Lighthouse Co.

Welcome to Pacific NW Lighthouse Company.

Our six-inch lighthouse models (A-coded models) are cast in a glass-based resin or stone-based resin and then hand-painted. At this time, models A1 to A13, except A4, are cast in a glass-based resin. All other six-inch models are cast in a stone-based resin. At the beginning, we used a glass-based resin to help us achieve a sea-weathered look to our models. In 2000, the price for glass-based resins became too expensive and we decided to start using a stone-based resin. Using a stone-based resin made our models weigh about 3-times more than the same size glass-based resin models. The stone models look like the lighthouses the day that they were completed; no weathers look at all. To this day, our collectors still debate which is the preferred look. The other advantage of a stone-based resin is that we can cast smaller lots. With a glass-based resin we had to cast 2,000 models of each lighthouse. Today, with the stone-based resin, we cast only 600 models at a time.

Our three-inch lighthouse models (B-coded models) in stock are cast in the stone-based resin except for Point-No-Point B10. On Ebay, we will occasionally see one of our earlier glass-based three-inch models for sale.

Our 1 ½ inch ornaments (G-coded) and miniature models (M-coded) are all cast in a lighter stone-base resin.

Our lighthouse magnets (C-coded) also come in both types of resins. Our earlier lighthouse magnets are larger in size than our lighthouse magnets manufactured today. We had to reduce the size because of weight of the stone-resin. Also, we had many requests to manufacture a smaller-size magnet, one that would adhere better to the refrigerator door being slammed shut by the kids.
